Labeling Workaround to Facilitate On-Time New Product Launch

 

The Client:

A client was launching a new product in a new-to-the-world category


The Challenge:

The initial In-Mold Label (IML) production for the product lids was significantly delayed but the client had on-shelf commitments and did not want to push back the launch of the three-SKU product line

  • In-mold labeling (IML) is defined as graphics or package decorations molded directly into the plastic packaging.


Our Solutions:

  • Insight Promotions identified a way to automatically apply printed paper labels to lids, during production, directly on the line
  • Insight Promotions incorporated an “easy peel” 6-panel recipe booklet directly onto a portion of the paper labels. The recipe booklets educated consumers on how to use the product


The Results:

  • Prevented significant new product launch delay
  • 9 million total labels were automatically applied in the plant at factory line speed
  • Supplemental use of printed labels enabled client to meet unexpectedly high consumer demand and prevented out-of-stocks during very successful launch
  • Even after IML lids were available and in production, Insight Promotions continued to apply labels on the line until the IML lids could meet the product’s total volume needs
